Introduction to Red Technologies
Initial Years
Mr. Mrugesh Panchal had the opportunity to work closely with Mr. Michael Abitbol at Makheia Group, France, where the foundation of their lifelong friendship was laid. At that time, Michael was leading the media business for the group, and Mrugesh was deeply inspired by his dynamic business style. The two often engaged in meaningful and in-depth conversations, strengthening their professional bond.
After his tenure at Makheia Group, Mr. Michael Abitbol pursued his Executive MBA at HEC Paris, where he connected with Mr. Pierre Jean Muller, former vice President at Huawei. Recognising the immense potential in Europe’s license-sharing market, all decided to join forces and co-founded RED Technologies, marking the beginning of a visionary entrepreneurial journey.
Core Products & Solutions
Over time, Red Technologies has successfully built a portfolio of products in highly specialised and niche market segments, positioning itself as a global leader in dynamic spectrum sharing and private 5G solutions.
SASlive® – Cloud-based Spectrum Access System (SAS)
- Operates across multiple tiers—Tier-1 incumbents, Tier-2 Primary Access Licensees (PAL), and Tier-3 General Authorised Access (GAA)—to enable dynamic and interference-managed spectrum sharing for CBRS bands in the U.S.
- Deployed with partners like Amdocs, and movements toward full FCC administrator certification are underway.
- Written to manage protections via exclusion zones and automated spectrum vacation protocols in real time.
TV White Spaces (TVWS) Databases
Provides dynamic spectrum sharing for unused broadcast frequencies—key for rural broadband, IoT deployments, and efficient connectivity outside traditional channels.
6 GHz Automated Frequency Controller (AFC)
In development and awaiting FCC approval, RED is building the tools to enable automated coordination of 6 GHz unlicensed spectrum—for Wi-Fi 6E and 5G —further extending their SAS suite.
Private 5G “as-a-Service” Platform
- Cloud-based, plug-and-play private 5G networks designed for enterprises and SMEs.
- Includes full-stack infrastructure: RAN & CORE, license facilitation, management tools, lifecycle services, and optional integration with their spectrum systems.
Advanced SAS Features & Analytics
Working on features like light-touch lease management for PAL holders, AI-based analytics for CBRS regions, network planning tools, and GAA coexistence modules.
Strategic Partnerships & Collaborations
During its entire business tenure, Red Technologies has also partnered with quite credible organisations for positioning itself as a global leader in dynamic spectrum sharing and private 5G solutions.
WISPA (Wireless Internet Service Providers Association, USA)
RED joined WISPA to improve affordable 3.5 GHz spectrum access for fixed wireless operators and began offering CBRS Spectrum Access System services, including PAL leasing with a Light-Touch Leasing tool suite.
Accelleran
Successfully completed interoperability tests between Accelleran’s cloud-native SAS client and RED's SAS platform — enabling private 4G/5G operations on shared spectrum (CBRS).
Ruckus Wireless (now part of Broadcom)
Conducted interoperability demos using RED’s cloud SASlive along with Ruckus’s LTE-over-CBRS indoor small cells — demonstrating readiness for enterprise 5G and shared spectrum deployment.
Qualcomm & Ericsson (France Pilot)
Collaborated on a Licensed Shared Access (LSA) pilot using RED’s dynamic spectrum platform. This was one of the most technically advanced pilots globally, focusing on indoor capacity and small cell setups.
Acquisition by CONX
CONX acquired 68% of RED Technologies’ outstanding share capital for up to €18.6 million in cash, with the remaining equity to be purchased upon completion of agreed milestones.
The acquisition aligns with CONX’s mission to back next-generation connectivity technologies and infrastructure.
RED’s spectrum-sharing capabilities were seen as a strategic asset to help CONX establish long-term value creation in multiple global sectors.
Acquisition was very well published in the global media.
